Credit utilisation
The balance reported on revolving credit divided by the total limit on that credit, written as a percentage. Instalment loans sit outside the ratio.
Only revolving accounts count: cards and lines of credit, where the room refreshes as you repay. An instalment loan has a fixed balance that only falls, so it is not in this division.
United States sources usually spell it utilization. Models look at it per card and overall at once. A single card near its ceiling can read badly on the per-card measure while the overall figure still looks calm.
The figure on file is usually the statement balance, not what you owe today, so paying in full before the due date does not automatically report as zero. The credit utilisation calculator runs the division. The explorer is the picture you can drag.
